- [INTERNET] 2018-01-09 More than 100 rural communities in Manitoba will benefit from faster Internet: The Government of Canada is helping close the connectivity gap in Manitoba through a combined investment of $83.9 million that will enable 112 rural and remote communities to get online and access high-speed Internet. Of these 112 communities, 48 are First Nations and 21 are located in regions without year-round road access. This investment will allow all Manitobans to do business online, participate in distance education and take advantage of the opportunities afforded by the digital age.

- 2018-01-09 Competition Bureau reaches settlement with HarperCollins in ebooks case: The Competition Bureau announced today that it has reached an agreement with publisher HarperCollins which the Commissioner expects will restore retail price competition for ebooks in Canada. This agreement follows a Bureau investigation that concluded an anti‑competitive arrangement between HarperCollins, competing publishers and Apple ultimately led to higher prices for Canadian consumers

- 2018-01-10 Minister Gould seeks feedback from Canadians on political party leaders’ debates: Recognizing that a well-informed, engaged electorate is fundamental to the health and well-being of our democracy, the Government of Canada is asking for feedback and recommendations from Canadians about the creation of an independent commission or commissioner to organize federal political party leaders’ debates in advance of the 2019 election
- 2018-01-12 Parliamentary Secretary Fillmore to consult on political party leaders’ debates in Halifax: Parliamentary Secretary Andy Fillmore, on behalf of the Honourable Karina Gould, Minister of Democratic Institutions, will be in Halifax on January 15, 2018, as part of the Government of Canada’s leaders’ debates consultations

- 2018-01-11 Christine Aubé named interim producer at NFB’s Canadian Francophonie Studio – Acadie Aubé replaces Jac Gautreau, Executive Producer of Ocean School, for a nine-month period, from January to October 2018: Dominic Desjardins, Executive Producer at the NFB’s Canadian Francophonie Studio – Acadie in Moncton, today announced the appointment of Christine Aubé as the studio’s Interim Producer. She replaces Jac Gautreau, who has been serving as Executive Producer of the Ocean School interactive project (NFB/Dalhousie University) since December 1. Gautreau will be reprising his role as Producer in October 2018. Ms. Aubé will start in her new position on January 4, 2018.
